Kindergarten Curriculum


Every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that will enable them to fulfill their full potential. Children develop quickly and their experiences in their early life has a profound effect on who they become in the future. A secure and high quality learning environment enables a child to make the most out of their abilities and talents as they grow.
Cambridge international section will shape the children in the following 6 prime areas as these also work as a framework to the teaching and charting of children’s progress.

Areas of learning…

The Foundation Stage Curriculum is split into six areas of learning…

  • Personal, social and emotional development

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

  • Encourages children to be independent and to interact with other children and adults.
  • Helps children to become confident, safe, secure and ready to learn from new experiences.

                                                            

Communication, Language and Literacy

  • Encourages children to develop conversational skills.
  • Will help children to develop listening and concentration skills.
  • Enables children to begin to hear sounds in words and to link these sounds to letters.
  • Encourages children to develop pencil control and to begin to make marks on paper.
  • Will help children to learn to read individual words and eventually, simple stories independently.

 

Mathematical Development

  • Helps children to count up to ten and beyond.
  • Encourages them to use mathematical words such as greater, smaller, heavier, lighter, more, less etc
  • Develops skills in comparing and sorting objects.
  • Supports children’s understanding of shape and size including 2D and 3D shapes

Knowledge and Understanding of the World

  • Helps children to gain an understanding of their world (Geography)
  • Encourages them to look at changes over time (History)
  • Encourages them to explore and investigate (Science)
  • Helps to develop designing and making skills (D&T)
  • Will give your children the opportunity to understand and use information and communication technology (ICT).

 

 Physical Development 

  • Supports children’s healthy development.
  • Provides opportunities for using a range of large and small equipment.
  • Helps them to develop a sense of space around themselves and others.
  • Encourages balance.
  • Develops practical skills such as dressing, undressing etc 

 

Creative Development 

  • Inspires children to explore colour and colour changes.
  • Helps them to explore shape and texture using all of their senses.
  • Develops an interest in music, singing and music-making.
  • Develops confidence and imagination.

They provide a valuable international benchmark of learner performance. Our qualifications, including Cambridge IGCSE, Cambridge O Level, Cambridge International AS and A Level, and Cambridge Pre­U are recognised and welcomed by universities and employers around the world.The Cambridge approach supports schools to develop learners who are:

  • Confident in working with information and ideas – their own and those of others
  • Responsible for themselves, responsible to and respectful of others
  • Reflective as learners, developing their ability to learn

British Council


Our school is an attached center to the British Council.

Our school is accredited to provide tuition to our students. The British Council handle all exams administration; getting our students registered, delivering the exams themselves, and providing our school with the necessary support materials, as supplied by Cambridge International in the UK. On a regular basis Cambridge provide British Council with the syllabi, past papers, mark schemes and examiner reports for the various examinations on offer.

About us

Entebbe Junior school is a private modern, Day and boarding school, founded in the year 2000, We offer both the UNEB and Cambridge curriculums respectively. Our Cambridge examination registration number is UG018. Our mission is to be a centre for quality and affordable International Education that enhances skills, discipline, Integrity and professionalism to all stakeholders.

We stay true to this by setting very high education and moral standards for our students and staff, the proof of this lies in our continuous excellence in the Cambridge checkpoint exam that the students have sat for over the years, we have aspired to aim high in all the spheres of educating a child to make them dynamic, independent and creative thinkers.

The Management

The managing directors Captain Darlington Omamateker and Mrs. Rose Omamteker are the owners of the school, the need to provide quality and affordable international education drove them to start the section.

The international section is competently run by Ms. Michelle Omamateker who is the director of the section.

Extra-Curricular


Cambridge international section gives pupils the scope and the spirit of healthy competition-to excel at all levels. Class work and homework have their academic benefits but academic distinctions alone do not fulfill the purpose for which the Cambridge section exists.

The benefits of extra-curricular activities are far reaching as the pupils broaden their minds and make thoughtful lifestyle choices. Research has shown that students who engage in extra–curricular activities are advantaged intellectually, spiritually, emotionally and physically thus they achieve a high level of personal well being.

The Cambridge Section offers a wide range of stimulating and fun activities for students to develop an all rounded child.
